EMI makes a deal with Google's YouTube.

It's unclear what the terms of the deal are, but EMI has finalized an agreement with Google that will allow EMI-owned music videos to be shown on YouTube, the popular free video website. EMI joins Warner Music Group, Sony BMG, and Universal with this move. In a statement, Chad Hurley, CEO of EMI, said, "With this deal, all four of the world's major music companies are now official YouTube partners."

EMI's future is currently the subject of much speculation, as it has principally agreed to be bought by Guy Hands' Terra Firma. However, some industry analysts expect Warner Music to make a late but strong counter attempt for the company.


Music giant EMI has inked a deal with Google-owned video sharing site YouTube to show its music videos online.

The British company, whose artists include the likes of David Bowie, Lily Allen and Radiohead, has followed Sony BMG, Warner Music and Universal in allowing its content to be shown on YouTube.
