RBS Might Get More Time The fate of ABN Amro may be on hold for another 30 days. May 2007The consortium of banks, led by the Royal Bank of Scotland, who is going after ABN Amro may ask for an extension. If they do, the Dutch regulator AFM said they would likely grant it. "[T]hat delay would probably entail another 30 days," AFM said. The consortium previously asked for an extension due to holidays. But they have yet to formalize their bid for the Dutch bank, which would be made to rival Barclay's bid. If the banking consortium led by Royal Bank of Scotland tomorrow asks for permission to delay formalising its bid on ABN Amro Holdings NV, Dutch market regulator AFM said it would probably give the consortium another 30 days. 'If such a request comes and we agree to it, then that delay would probably entail another 30 days,' an AFM spokeswoman told Thomson Financial News. (Continue reading this story on Forbes)
