April 2007Toyota is expected to announce a new, shuffled management team by mid-year, but its top executive team is expected to remain relatively unchanged. The only known, notable change made so far to the top team of the world's second biggest producer of automobiles is the impending departure of Executive Vice President Yoshi Inaba, who has led Toyota's push into China over the past two years. Central Japan International Airport Co. announced Monday in Japan that Mr. Inaba, 61, is expected to join the airport operator as its chief executive in June, becoming the second executive in a row from Toyota to assume the post of president at the company. It was not clear who is going to replace Mr. Inaba. As part of the coming shuffle, Toyota is discussing whether to promote to the board Jim Press, a long-time American Toyota executive who had led Toyota's U.S. sales unit until last year when he was named president of Toyota North America, a unit that takes care of investor and public relations for Toyota in North America and also functions as the holding company for its R&D, manufacturing and sales operations. Reportedly, Toyota Chairman Fujio Cho and President Katsuaki Watanabe are expected to continue in their current roles. Toyota is expected to displace GM as the world's biggest vehicle producer as early as this year. To read more about this story, go to WSJ.com
