So here it is – an artist’s impression of the Universitas Leadership Sanctuary in the Nevada desert.

As the Guardian notes, Donna Vassar, a member of the Vassar education dynasty, plans a $300m getaway for stressed-out presidents and prime ministers.

According to Destination Universitas, the body behind the project, this will be “a unique refuge where leaders may rediscover clarity and personal renewal.”

The Mission:

The mission of Destination Universitas Foundation is to create better balance in the world by transforming leaders.

The Vision:

The vision of the Destination Universitas Foundation is to establish an international center that will house the operations, programs and a unique and private leadership sanctuary. The Universitas Leadership Sanctuary will be a center specifically created to embrace and challenge leaders. Together we will create an individual journey leading to the highest place within, enabling leaders to reconnect with their unique purpose in life. They emerge - renewed, with clarity, and reflecting true transformation.

Apparently Donna Vassar visited Somalia in the early 80s and something changed:

Ms. Vassar witnessed a growing imbalance prompting her to conceive and develop a vision which became her life’s work.

Living in Paris and abroad for several years she participated in global economics and the international currency exchange. Ms. Vassar was afforded a unique platform with leaders providing her with the contacts and experience necessary to establish a project to serve mankind.

And she is offering an invitation:

We offer this project to our global family as a place where present world realities can be transformed into global balance.

We invite you to participate in this magnificent adventure!

According to the Architects’ Journal, this six-storey complex, designed by Chetwoods Architects, has been described as a ‘giant flower’ with petals that collect solar, hydro and wind energy.

All of which pretty well defies parody.
