Engineer looking to move into trading career

I am a graduate Engineer looking for a job as a futures or FX trader. Anyone got any advice. I have looked at the prop trading companies trainee trader programmes. I had also thought about doing an MBA to get more financial knowledge. Though I thought trading was more about personality than education. I am a dedicated person, love going that extra mile for success. I've been investing in equities for about 4 years so I have some market exposure. Anyone got any advice or contacts?

Re: Engineer looking to move into trading career Thanks for that information. I think thats pretty good advice. Trading Its such a difficult career to get into and i'd feel more confident by going through a trainee trader programme. I guess if I can teach myself to trade and show a consistent profit (which I know won't be easy) then that would be a good route towards becoming a professional trader. Thanks again Roy

Re: Engineer looking to move into trading career Yes. The easiest way for you to get into trading is by learning to trade yourself using a theoretical account. Produce a consistent P&L. And then when you know what you are doing you can either work for your self or if you can convince a company to hire you to trade then good stuff really.
