Jonathan C. Uretsky is a founding partner of Phillipson & Uretsky, LLP, a full-service law firm with offices in New York and New Jersey, and an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law.

His practice is focused on securities litigation, including the resolution of civil disputes in federal and state courts, as well as in various dispute resolution forums. Mr. Uretsky also has extensive experience representing financial institutions in arbitration proceedings, in a number of forums including the NASD, NYSE and the CBOE. These arbitration proceedings have run the gamut from simplified arbitrations to large and complex proceedings, and have also included intra-industry arbitrations seeking injunctive relief. Mr. Uretsky’s practice also concentrates on the defense of hedge funds, public companies, stock promoters, investor relations firms and broker-dealers in regulatory matters before the SEC and applicable SROs, and in the white-collar context before the U.S. Attorney’s Office and F.B.I.

In addition to his securities litigation, arbitration, regulatory and white-collar criminal defense work, Mr. Uretsky also represents and advises a variety of clients in employment and commercial litigation matters. He has represented clients in raiding claims, in contractual disputes, in matters involving the improper infringement of copyrighted and patented materials and ideas, in the defense of federal class-actions. He also has served in a legal advisory capacity to a variety of small and mid-size business owners.

Mr. Uretsky is admitted to practice before the New York and New Jersey State Bars, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York, and the District of New Jersey. His article on research analysts, “Defending Claims of Analysts’ Conflicts in a Changing Society” was recently published by the American Conference Institute, in connection with the Second National Broker/Dealer Defense Forum on Prevailing Against Customer Claims (May 2005), at which Mr. Uretsky was a panelist.
