Pasodoble

Pasodoble, the name of a Spanish dance, means "double step" in Spanish.

The honoree of the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce 2008 Annual Gala on June11, Mr. Ignacio Galan, certainly led the way to the dance floor as well as stepping up the competition in clean energy. As Chairman and CEO of Iberdrola, he has led the company to become the #1 world leader in wind powered energy. The company also leads in desalination solutions. The Spaniards at the event obviously seemed quite proud of these facts, especially since they are aware that most Americans probably only think about tapas if anything Spanish is mentioned.

In keeping with the clean/renewable energy theme, the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce also instructed the Waldorf to host the event using only LED lighting and candles. All the paper products distributed to the guests were made out of recycled paper that was free of chlorine, and they purchased carbon credits for the delivery of the food supply. And to top it off, the food, prepared by celebrity chef Jose Andres, was 100% organic. Talk about raising the bar! These guys deserve an A+ from Al Gore.
