This area of the market has plateau-ed for now—but maybe not for long.

Hold: One area of the art market that has plateau-ed for the time being is the second generation Abstract Expressionists. In particular, prices for paintings by artists like Al Held and Alfred Leslie have not moved much in the past few years, with prices at auction of $10-50,000 on average, but may well increase in value in the future. Hold on to those wonderful works for now, and stay tuned!
